Leather in Cosplay: Pirate Hat, Belt and Shoes

Red from Pirates of the Caribbean

My daughter's favorite Disney character is Red From the revamp of Pirates of the Caribbean. She needed a few different things to complete the costume. There was a pirate hat, a wide belt and lastly boots. This is based on the Disney park character that hangs around the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

The hat was made using a Diesel Punk Ro pattern and red chrome-tanned Laredo Crazy Horse leather. This has a wire embedded in the brim to allow the brim to fold up to that traditional pirate hat shape. This pattern was a pretty easy build and the pattern works well.

The belt is a pure veg-tanned, dyed black, with double belt buckles and mounting points for bags and a skirt hike holder.

Lastly is a set of pirate boots. Made from black, oil tanned leather. The base pattern is from a moccasin pattern and tweaking it a bit. All of these were sized and built with her remote, so it was a bit of a nail biter to ensure that all fit well at the convention.
